Fresh Ideas Competition

Each year during One Water, the YP Committee hosts the Fresh Ideas Competition. We give graduate students, undergraduates, and recent graduates the opportunity to submit an abstract on any drinking water-related research they have been involved in. Possible topics include source water protection, drinking water treatment, analytical methods, water distribution and storage, etc. Students compete for the opportunity to give either a 30-minute oral or 10-minute poster presentation. In their application, students state which type of presentation (oral and/or poster) interests them. Not only is this an excellent opportunity for students to network with fellow water professionals and share their knowledge with the water community, but they also compete for monetary prizes and the opportunity to present a poster at the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE). This trip is financially sponsored by OAWWA.

For questions or if you wish to be added to the list to get notifications about the Fresh Ideas Competition, please contact the organizers, Maria Schneider and Austin Prokup.

The Fresh Ideas Competition application period typically opens in early December and closes in mid- to late-January. We are not currently accepting abstracts for the Fresh Ideas Competition. Please check back at the end of this year or contact us to be added to the notification list.
